Activities

CER activities are geared towards:

  • Creating environmental awareness and sensitivity to address environmental issues in society through children in schools, churches and holiday clubs.
  • Pre-empting social vices through mentorship for a morally upright and ethical society.
  • Promoting and developing public green spaces and forests culture thereby supporting Target 7 of UN SDG 11 “To provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities”, through our One Child One Tree Afforestation Campaign (O.C.O.T.A.C).
  • Inculcating values about the relationship between environmental and personal cleanliness and health. Both inner (values) and outer personal cleanliness are addressed every week while environmental cleanliness in the school compound and neighbourhood are monthly and termly activities respectively. Each year a major clean-up is undertaken to sensitize society about the need for a clean environment and sustainable waste management habits to reduce  the prevalence of environment related diseases
  • Recognizing and motivating outstanding environmentalists and competition winners.
  • Promoting creativity and talent through annual environmental expression competitions in Art and Photography, Music and Dance, Drama and Poetry.
  • Raising funds for running the programme.
  • Recognizing and motivating outstanding environmentalists, teachers and volunteers.

CER Programs

Clean environment activities.

  1. Weekly club mentorship about inner and outer personal cleanliness.
  2. Weekly clean school exercise with focus on ablution blocks and playgrounds.
  3. Termly school neighbourhood clean-up and public sensitization exercise.
  4. Clean environment advocacy through creative expression and media.
  5. Annual public space clean-up.

 

Afforestation and green public space development.    

  1. Promoting tree planting and ground greening through our “One Child One Tree Afforestation Campaign” (O.C.O.T.A.C) in schools and other public spaces.
  2. Advocacy for provision safe, inclusive and accessible green public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities as per Target 7 of UN SDG 11.

Creative environmental expression and talent development.  

  1. Organization of competitions in art and photography, drama, music and dance, and poetry.
  2. Talent search and development in creative expression.
  3. Exposing talent for the benefit of the talented and the environment.

WACKY GAMES for the environment.

  1. Organization of a tournament to raise environmental awareness and networking among corporates and the public.
  2. Fund raising through WACKY GAMES for “Smile Again Foundation” and the running of CER.

Training and mentorship Program.

  1. Monthly meetings for the training of teachers.
  2. Mentorship at weekly club meetings.
  3. Termly joint mentorship and networking meeting for regions.

Annual Eco-trip.

Organization of a trip for winners in various categories, volunteers and teachers to appreciate their commitment to CER’s vision.

Become a member / Get involved.

  1. Become a member.
  2. Invite CER to organize a clean-up in your locality to create awareness about the link between clean environments and health.
  3. Invite CER to plant trees in your former school, church, social hall, and neighbourhood.
  4. Start a CER club in your former school or church or even neighbourhood,
  5. Support education with school fees through “Smile Again Foundation.”
  6. Give “in kind” donations including awards for WACKY GAMES and Creative expression competitions.
  7. Sponsor CER activities.
